Bestival Tickets

Bestival is known as ‘the biggest fancy dress party in the world’ and has one of the most eclectic line-ups on the festival scene.  With its island location and closing party vibe, it’s one of the best festivals of the season and is sold out year after year.  It’s an event that celebrates art and creativity, as well as just music and cider, embracing much more of the traditional festival vibe than other more urban events.  Plus you get to wear face paints and fancy dress no matter how old you are!

About Bestival

Bestival is known as a ‘boutique’ festival and prides itself on being a much more personal experience than some of the bigger festivals that have been up and running for years.  It’s still a pretty big event with upwards of 55,000 revellers descending on the site each year, which makes it roughly a third the size of Glastonbury.  If you find some festival sites a bit overwhelming, and you just don’t have the legs to get across to all the stages, then this slightly smaller site is the one for you.

Bestival takes place in Robin Hill Country Park, which is located on the Isle of Wight and makes for a picturesque spot – as long as the weather’s nice of course!  The line up is traditionally eclectic but tends to have a bit more of a left field edge than some other festivals, as it is run by Radio 1 DJ Rob Da Bank.  2011’s line up included legends like Bjork and The Cure, as well as up and coming and more left field acts like Appleblim and Trophy Wife.  There’s also a strong dance lineup and plenty of dance tents where you can rave the night away.

Buying Bestival Tickets

Bestival is pretty much the last festival of the year – taking place around September 8th and September 11th – but this doesn’t mean that you can wait to buy your tickets as they usually sell out.  Tickets normally go on sale in May and can easily be sold out by June.

In terms of the costs of Bestival tickets:

  • Adult weekend tickets cost approx £170 (£160 for students)
  • Child weekend tickets (Age 13 to 15) cost approx £85
  • Children aged 12 and under go free to the festival
  • Campervan Tickets are approx £65

Ticket prices include camping (other than if you are bringing a campervan) but remember this does not include your ferry ticket!  You will need to organize your train ticket to Portsmouth or Southampton and then a ferry ticket to make the hour or so journey across to the Isle of Wight.
